The jacket has spent to long in tight library sleaving and is slightly crinkled; the front end paper is missing and the pages tanned. There are of course the usual library markings that are limited to the preliminaries and the tail. For the rest it is a clean, solid copy which appears to have been rarely read. From the front flap: : This book relates the conflicts on the Indo-Pakistan subcontinet with the meeting of the East and West under the raj. This fusion led to the emergence of an Indian elite which combined many of the worst aspects of the two cultures. The Muslim desire for a separate homeland was taken over by the "protestant elite" and prooted in its own class interest." It also deals with issues relating ti India's independence and subsequent civil war.
