Cet ouvrage fait suite à l'Histoire de Bonaparte (1807) In volume 1&2 the gilt numbering on the spine is wrong, the numbers having been reversed; all 9 volumes are chipped the edges and badly foxed. Vol.1 (which says Vol.2 on the spine) has unevenly sewn leaves, meaning that its edges are bumped. A tear on the last page has been repaired with acid free tape, as has one on page 231, the boards are rubbed. On the back paste down, with 2 corrections, is written in the copperplate of the period: "Histoire du conquereur de l' Europe (sera toujours immortalle sa memoire)" Vol.2 (which says Vol. 1 on the spine) The boards are rubbed and the binding shaky, the lower edge of the title page is torn with minor loss and again the leaves have been unevenly sewn meaning that some jut out of the covers. At some stage petals were put between pp 22 - 23 and again between pp.56 -57. In the first instance they have almost all fallen out, in the second they have not, therefore obscuring the print. The spine strip is damaged head and tail and along the edges. Vol. 3 is in excellent condition as is Vol. 4, though this has loss at the tail of the spine and on the front end paper; Vol. 5 The tail of the spine strip is chipped and the title page has loss to the lower outer edge. This does not impact on the print. Vol. 6 is in very good condition as is Vol 7 & 8. Vol 6 has loss to the head of pp 57 - 60, with no impact on the print and Vol 7 has the misbound leaves which jut out of the body of the book and the preliminaries are bumped at the edges. In Vol.9 the head and tail of the spine are bumped, as are pp 33-38 along the outer edge, again because of a misbound. Overall a nice set despite its obvious faults, with Vols 1& 2 being the ones in good only condition. Wrtten by hand on the back paste down: "Histoire du le conquereur de l' Europe (Sera toujours immotable sa memoire)
