Trekking on. With a Preface By General the RT. Hon. J.C. Smuts

Reitz, Deneys
The book once belonged to the "Univerity Medical Student Society". Its stamp is on the front paste down and front end paper, as well as a hand written accession number. There is a stain on the front board, which could be wax and the edges are slightly rubbed. It is also canted. Internally the book is clean and solid. A very good used copy. The second volume in a trilogy, it is a first hand account of South African history narrated by someone who had both privileged access to the leading figures of the period, as well as being an influencial participator in his own right. The books cover the lead up to the second Boer War through to the outbreak of WWII. The trilogy consists of :"Commando: A Boer Journal Of The Boer War", "Trekking On", dealing with the Boer War through World War I, and "No Outspan", which covers life in South African politics between the wars and concludes with him as Deputy Prime Minister of South Africa. Fourth impression. Includes 5 fold out maps.
