"Every now and again I meet someone with a knowledge of "the good old days" and am fascinated y the personal accounts of what things used to be like. There is much to e learned from them. In the months leading to the start of the year 2000, there was plenty of history recounted in district newspapers. This book by Charles Gerrish gives a valuable insight to what happed in a good part of the 20th Century. While Charles has become a notable resident and leading citizen of Mooroopna and the Goulburn Valley, this book covers a much wider area. The book contains interesting stories, which in themselves indicate what life was like "back then". It is also obvious that Charles and Margaret realised there was a bigger world out there, hence their travels around Australia and other countries. Charles put his own perspective on the travels. He family of Charles and Margaret in these and future generations now have an excellent account of the ancestry and will doublessly be inspired by their hard work, their strong principles and their spirit - valuable qualities in any era. Friends and other fortunate enough to pick up copies of the book will also learn much from it. Hopefully the book will inspire some of those family and friends to put on record the life and times in which they live. ( Bill McCarthy) is account by Charles Gerrish of his life and times provide a fascinating insight into his activities in agriculture with the Shepparton Show Society, in local government with Mooroopna Water and Sewerage Trusts, Rotary and other local organisations over many years.
