This book was the result of a joint venture by Benalla and District Historical Society and the Benalla Family Research Group and tells the story of the incredible hardships and remarkable achievements of women in Benalla. The annual awards, funded by the Victorian Government, recognise people and projects that preserve and share Victoria's history. The awards have grown since their inception in 1997 and this year attracted 110 entrants across eight categories.....It contains 102 stories of the hardships and achievements of local women from all walks of life, including pioneers, farmers, mayors, nurses, teachers, migrants and nuns."
