There is an ownership signature on the front end paper, the pages are tanned and there is some neat underscoring in green biro, and neat annotations along the outer edge, the latter mostly in pencil, scattered intermittently throughout the book; the back end paper has, again very neat, page references to specific subjects. The binding is solid and apart from the annotations, clean. "This is a series of sketches describing the manners, foibles and morals of the residents of Hobart during the 1820s. Savery, as a convict, was not permitted to write and therefore called himself The Hermit." (Trove) 219 pages
