Full leather, with gilt title (BIBLE) and decorative lines on spine. First published in 1807, a miniature book of Bible stories for children with engravings by Alfred Mills. The book is c 6 cm x 5.5 cm x 1cm (2 1/2 " x 2. 1/4 " x 1/2 "). The maroon leather boards are rubbed, less so the gilt title on the spine ; two engravings are missing, there are 46 not 48 as listed. As many of the etchings are 2 sewn leaves, the missing two aren't obvious without a count. Page 47 has a closed tear, which has been reapaired with acid free, as has the engraving opposite page 49. The engraving opposite page 59 also has a very short, closed tear, which has not been repaired; the engraving opposite page 84 has minor loss to the head'd outer page and some pages have very small creases on the outer edges. For all its faults, it remains an attractive and solid copy. "Alfred Mills (1776-1833) was a British printmaker, painter, etcher, wood engraver and draughtsman.
